Yantai SAF AL-KO Vehicle Technology Corporation was grandly opened on 30th of May, 2007, which date was also the 20th Anniversary of friend relationship foundation between Shandong Province and Bayern.
The opening celebration started at 11:28 AM, which was supported by Governments of Shandong Province, Yantai City and Laishang District. At the ceremony, Dr. Kong Xianming, the General Manager of SAF AL-KO China expressed his thanks to the erectors of SAF AL-KO China and the customers within the country and overseas who concerns the company.
With area of 60 000 square meters, SAF AL-KO Vehicle Technology Yantai Co., Ltd was invested in totally 15 million USD, and the registered capital is up to 8.2 million USD. The company can manufactures 20 000 axles and 5 000 light trailer chassis per year, and the annual proceeds of sale could be 150 million RMB. It has been making profit since May.
The secretary of Laishan District Government made an opening speech, and Mr. Liang Bo, vice director of Shandong Foreign Trade and Economic Bureau made a congratulation speech. There were also other gentlemen spoke at the ceremony, who were Mr. Hans Spitzner-secretary of Bayern, Mr. Fitza-representative of German Ambassador, Mr. Li Guiping-representative of customers, Mr. Rudi Ludwig-Present of SAF, and Mr. Kurt Kober-Present of AL-KO.
And then the gentlemen cut the ribbon at the opening ceremony in applause, which means SAF AL-KO Vehicle Technology Co., Ltd opened officially.

A spokesperson for American heavy vehicle component firm Holland Hitch says the news of the merger with German heavy vehicle axles and suspension firm Otto Sauer Achsenfabrik (SAF), came as a surprise.
"We really don’t want to make any comments because we really don’t know what is happening at this stage in the Australian operations."
In the meantime, "we have been told it is business as usual for the moment".
"We’ll know more next year, then our General Manager Jim Wilson will be happy to make a comment on the direction the company will take," the spokesperson told fullyloaded.
"At this point we are unsure if we’ll be taking on more products [SAF line] in Australia."

SAF is a supplier of integrated axle and suspension systems for trailers, with headquarters in Germany. Holland Group is a leading supplier of coupling, lift and suspension systems for trucks, tractors and trailers, with headquarters in Michigan, USA. Terms of the arrangement were not disclosed; the merger is expected to occur by year-end.
Both companies are world-class original equipment suppliers with highly complementary products, leading market positions, strong management teams, and excellent design, engineering, production and testing technologies. The merger creates a truly global supplier of transportation equipment with the critical mass required to compete in the market with twenty-six manufacturing and warehousing facilities worldwide. The two companies also share a similar history. Both began as suppliers of horse-drawn agricultural products before evolving into suppliers to the heavy transportation industry, and both have been privately-held family businesses.
